What it is:

This workshop outlines simple steps that will make the essay writing portion of the EOC assessment less threatening. Participants will explore approaches for secondary ESL and ELA teachers to scaffold instruction and boost students’ performance on the essay portion of the EOC. The workshop includes an opportunity to examine the required elements of the essays and learn how to help students incorporate these elements into their writing.

Participants Will Receive:

• Persuasive or Expository Writing Unit with lesson examples
• Graphic organizers, sentence stems, and paragraph frames
• Color-coding and revision activities
