Meet John Seidlitz
John Seidlitz is an independent educational consultant and developer of “TIPS for instructing ELLs” part of the ELL Student Success Initiative of the Texas Education Agency.
As co-developer with Bill Perryman of Perspective-Based Learning,™ he works with teachers throughout the country
implementing strategies that promote academic language development for all students and the use of perspective in the classroom.
He currently serves as member of the SIOP® National faculty. He served teachers at ESC Region 20 in San Antonio and South Texas as an educational specialist.
He is a former social studies and ESL teacher and also served as a secondary ESL program coordinator.

Angel Torres has worked in the field of education for the last fifteen years. His work experience includes teaching recent immigrant, bilingual, regular and special education students, as well as working as a diagnostician, high school special education supervisor, supervisor for a regional day school program for the deaf, and an educational consultant in the area of English Language Learners (ELLs).
Angel has presented on numerous occasions at the local, regional and state level on topics impacting ELLs. He has also trained teachers, parents, and administrators throughout the state of Texas on best practices and sheltered instruction strategies that improve vocabulary development, classroom interaction, and state assessment scores.
At present, Angel serves as the Director for the McAllen I.S.D. Bilingual, English as a Second Language (ESL), and Newcomer Academy programs. Recently, he led the McAllen I.S.D. Bilingual and ESL program to move from a stage four of intervention to a free and clear status as measured by the performance based monitoring and analysis system (PBMAS), component of the Texas school accountability system.
Cindy Jones has
extensive experience in both regular and special education as a teacher,
diagnostician, principal, crisis interventionist, consultant, and staff
developer. Her expertise lies in the areas of English Language Learners (ELL),
at-risk, behavior and classroom management, pre-school instruction and behavior,
and educational strategies for special education. She is also an author and an
energetic, cutting-edge international presenter in both the U.S. and Canada.
Cindy works with Seidlitz Education where she specializes in product
development, training, and consulting. Cindy lives in San Antonio with her
husband and loves spending time with her grandson, Charlie.
Nancy Motley’s love for students and commitment to their education has been fully evident in her years as an elementary school teacher, reading specialist, intervention program coordinator, professional development instructor and curriculum developer. Because of her dynamic approach to teaching and learning, in 2003 she was awarded the Alief Independent School District’s Teacher of the Year Award. While in Alief I.S.D., she specialized in increasing student achievement for a variety of special populations, including English Language Learners (ELL) and students with Dyslexia. She holds a Master of Arts in Counseling which has greatly assisted her in helping teachers to build strong, authentic connections with their students. Nancy has also developed a variety of trainings in thinking strategies, vocabulary development, non-fiction reading and writing and student motivation. She lives in Houston, Texas with her husband and two daughters.
Valerie Auer has a passion and enthusiasm for learning and teaching that is contagious. Her energetic attitude and knowledge of reading instruction, language acquisi
tion, vocabulary development and effective, research-based strategies for English Language Learners make her a well-received and successful presenter.
Valerie has worked in education for over twelve years in a variety of roles. She first began her educational career as
an elementary school teacher working in the culturally diverse, Dallas Independent School District. She then attended graduate school and taught at the
University of Texas at Dallas, where she wrote everything from poetry and screenplays to curriculum. Valerie has authored and presented numerous training modules
and workshops for the Multi-Language Enrichment Program in Dallas ISD to assist ESL and bilingual teachers with strategies that are hands-on and relevant to the needs of their ELLs.
Currently she writes the ESL intermediate middle school curriculum and works with secondary campuses,
coaching teachers on effective strategies to reach their ELL population in all content areas.
